Up At The Villa: Festive News from the Gift Shop

IMG_1775

We’ve got lots of exciting events lined up for you at the Villa Bologna Gift shop as we approach the festive season head on. Currently fine art  Photographer Elliot Nichol is exhibiting his ‘Between Lands’ limited collection of stunning black and white images of the Maltese coast, shot using long exposure techniques. Elliot’s mother has written a series of poems inspired by Greek mythology to accompany the brooding and ethereal photographs. Recently, Nichol photographed the citrus themed wedding shoot for our Villa Bologna Wedding Face Book page.

On Tuesday the 2nd of December,  Villa Bologna will be officially launching our very own flower shop to the general public, a labour of love, run by Joanna Caldwell a very talented lady who wears many hats at VB including; florist, wedding planner and event manager. The event begins at 7pm and will continue until 9pm. Everyone is invited. Home-made mince pies and spiced mulled wine will be served, free of charge to the general public, courtesy of our very own Villa Bologna Café. 20141113_135702During this period, the Villa Bologna gift shop will remain open too, with a selection of hampers featuring Ceramika Maltija ceramics and goodies from our own gardens. Start your Xmas shopping here by supporting local artisans and community with high quality, hand crafted items, making for original Christmas gifts. The week after, on Saturday the 13th December, following on last year’s success, the gift shop will be organising its very own Open Day, where visitors will be able to stroll around the gardens free of charge, sample delectable offings from our Kitchen and be inspired by novel gift ideas.

This month we are also showcasing two recent additions to our stable of authentic Maltese inspired giftware, complementing our heritage ceramics. First to the fold is a selection from the range of ‘Fwieha Fragranza ta’ Malta’ perfumes, created by master French Perfumier Eddie Blanchet and celebrating the various distinct scents of Maltese localities. The perfume bottles go by the names of San Anton, Buskett, or Blue Grotto. Another range captures the myriad wafts, characteristic of various towns such as Sliema or our Capital City Valletta. Top notes of fennel predominate along with citrus and more woody undernotes when it comes to the garden range.  There are plans for our own unique scent, encapsulating the essence of Villa Bologna, in the pipe-line too. That’s all folks from this end. Looking very much forward to seeing you in our shop sometime soon. From everyone here: Annie, Ira and Warren, we take this opportunity to wish you a very Happy Christmas and a Prosperous New Year!”
